Dear Pastor and Prayer Partners; July 2010
Greetings from the Philippines! Rainy season is starting here in Baguio city, but the bad weather hasn't hindered the blessings from the Lord here at Victory Baptist Church!
YOUTH CAMP We were worried about our youth camp this year. Many things seemed to hinder our scheduling and preparations for the camp meeting. Through prayer and dedicated hard work from pastors, church members and supporters, the camp was a big success! Our special speaker was Pastor Kelly Senn from Port Norris Baptist Church in New Jersey. Every night he preached from the Word of God and challenged the young people. The days were filled with games, preaching, fellowship and spiritual activities. After the camp, we had the following final report, (Assurance of Salvation-1, Baptism-4, Dedication to soulwinning-7, surrender to missions or full time ministry-8, dedication to service-13). I want to also thank the ones who sacrificed and sent some money to help us in the camp canteen. Our budget was just 50 cents per person, per meal. Some responded to our last prayer letter and we ended up with just enough money to supply meals for every one the entire week. All in all, it was one of our best teen camps yet! We praise the Lord for all who labored so tirelessly and sacrificed so much to make it happen!
PROPHACY CONFERENCE! We had our very first Prophecy conference in June. This was a conference that the entire membership seemed to be excited about. Our special speaker was evangelist Randy Chovan. I had never met him before, but as soon as we met we became good friends. He preached great Spirit filled messages every night. God blessed his Word and many decisions were made during that week.
NEW FRUIT IN THE CHURCH A few weeks ago, we had a young couple visit out church. Afterwards I discovered that the wife (Jonalyn) was saved and baptized in a Baptist church many years ago, she said she wanted to get right with the Lord and find a church to join. After counseling, she came forward a few weeks later and joined. Afterwards, I counseled with her husband (James) and he ended up receiving Christ as Savior and they both have been coming for a month. Amen! I will be discussing with him in the following weeks about baptism and joining our church as well. Keep this couple in your prayers.
A ROUGH THREE MONTHS It has been a trying three months here at home. It seems like we have had about every kind of problem that could arise. All three of our children got the chicken pox infection. I ended up contracting the measles which was followed by the flu. Our dog (Maxine) almost died from a major intestinal infection. Soon after saving her from certain death through much medication, we had a visitor visit our house, he left the gate open, she walked out and we have never seen her again! The children are suspicious that she eloped!
