Dear Fellow Soldiers of the Cross, August 2010
"Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints." Psalms 116:15 On Saturday, July 10, Sue's brother went home to be with the Lord. We thank everyone who fervently prayed for Geun Yong during his battle with cancer.
The Thursday before he passed Sue and I were able to pray and read Scripture with him and his family. It was a difficult time for the whole family but we are rejoicing he is now with the Lord. Sue is now the oldest of the family, and as the oldest she assumes much more of the responsibility. Please continue to pray for her health as she is periodically tested for cancer.
The ministry is going well and the Lord has sent new families to the Lighthouse Baptist Church. During the summer the attendance usually declines, however this summer our attendance has increase.
Recently, Sue has begun a ladies Bible study on Thursday mornings, it started with a few Ladies and now it is growing every week. Our ladies are able to interact and have open discussions about the Bible lesson.
Our children's ministries are growing as well with the Military's push for more families to be stationed in Korea. We have a number of children who are faithfully attending our children's classes. One young person was saved a few weeks ago; please pray for Ashlyn Smith as she grows in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We are preparing for a summer family camp at the end of this month, please pray the Lord will bless this special time with our families.
It was a blessing to have Dr. Jon DeRusha with us on our 12 year anniversary Sunday. Jon is the Asian field director of Baptist Missions to Forgotten Peoples. It was a great week as Jon spoke at our Faithful men's meeting on Tuesday and preached our Wednesday night service as well. Jon was a tremendous encouragement to the whole church family.
Thank you once again for all the prayers and support in the past 12 years!
